There is no child porn on AO3. That is a false statement perpetuated by pro censorship groups in order to promote their repressive goals.
Child pornography is pornographic material (images, videos etc) of actual children. That is why it is illegal to produce, transmit, or possess. Because it involves the sexual abuse, assault and exploitation of ACTUAL REAL CHILDREN.
AO3 is a US website that abides by US law. US law prohibits any involvement whatsoever with child porngraphy - possession, creation, transmission etc. If there was child pornography on AO3 not only would the website be taken down but everyone involved would be in prison. This has not happened because there is no child pornography on the site.
There are some fictional stories on AO3 that include fictional sex scenes between fictional characters who are underage. But that is not child porgraphy and is legal. Just the way Game of Thrones has sex scenes involving underage characters but that’s legal because in real life the actors and actresses are all legal adults. It is legal because no actual children are harmed.
Actual children are harmed though when pro censorship people pull stunts like trying to report AO3 to the FBI for child pornography. While these complaints did not result in any actions against AO3 because there was no child pornography it means that time that could have been used to investigate real claims about real child pornography that put real children in harms way was wasted. And that hurts children.
But these people don’t care about children. They don’t even care about banning fictional subject matter that depicts underage sex. If they did they would be campaigning equally hard against HBO for airing Game of Thrones and George RR Martin for writing A Song of Ice and Fire both of which include underage sex scene as well as other dark subject material like rape. What they really care about it claiming the moral high ground to justify harassment campaigns and censorship of marginalized communities.

I am so confused by people who comment on my fics that a pairing has no basis in canon. Do... do they not realize it's make-believe? One of my biggest shames, is that I never learnt grammar, punctuation, or when to set commas. In 1st to 2nd grade I was excluded heavily by my teacher. Then I changed schools and was given books for 1st to 3rd graders, while being in 4th-5th grade. I had gone through those during the 2nd-3rd year at the school, but just got a new version. When I got into another new school, they were already done with those subjects. No I have no learning disability, nor do I have any other issues that would have justified it. I guess that's what happens when you and 3 other kids are the only ones with a background as 1st gen diaspora, even if we've been here basically since birth. Besides all that, I also still heavily struggle with that language, and I never managed to catch up, no matter how much I tried. General grammar and sentence structure is a bust, and no matter how I asked there was nothing they could (or wanted) to do. Here there's a rule that "If you've lived here for 6 years and are above a certain age, you can no longer request language specific help." Even if it's to catch up.
This also very much applies to fanfics. Some people need to take a step back and think before they make straight fools out of themselves.

If we broaden it outside of television…I think Star Wars falls into this, at least the sequel trilogy. Maybe the MCU as well. And I can’t help but think of every band that’s ever complained that their fanbase is mostly women. 5 Seconds of Summer comes immediately to mind.
In general, most white male creators seem to have this massively entitled mindset where they want–and think they deserve–the time, attention, and enthusiasm that creative fandom (i.e. the side of fandom more dominated by women) is known for.
They want our eyes for ratings, our word-of-mouth for free publicity, our metas for social media buzz, and our spending power for merch and cons. But they don’t want us. And they don’t really want the responsibility of telling a story to a thoughtful, engaged audience, regardless of that audience’s demographic makeup. They just want to be praised for whatever schlock they cough up.
And like any other spoiled brat, they will break their toys before they share them.
It goes all the way to the top for kids shows. Toy sales will crash a show. Makes sense, but if those toys are gendered for boys instead of the female viewers, they won’t usually switch up the marketing and move them to the girl aisle. They cancel the show outright.
Mind you it is perfectly possible to make the switch in marketing, but execs would rather throw it all out than have something that doesn’t perform well with male viewers. For example the Rey merch was not expected to be popular, for some reason, there had to be public outcry to get merch of one of the main 3 protagonists. A PROTAGONIST. The fact that she wasn’t a huge part of the 1st launch says a lot already.
And what happened when female fans got too invested in the Sequel Trilogy? The entire writers room didn’t necessarily lash out, but they sure forgot how to behave.
OMG YES. I LOVED Sons of Anarchy, especially the women and then I got to season 6 and it was like - everything was just tossed in the trash? And like, why did Sutter hate that Tara drew tons of attention? That should have been a good thing! He should have been like “Hey folks, this girl’s getting us more viewers, let’s put her in more scenes!” It just doesn’t make sense to me. MEN don’t make sense to me.
The 100 too. I’ll never forget how Jason Rothenberg would attacked female fans on Twitter and mock them in interviews, and then post links to male fan discussions on Reddit to praise and thank them. In his goodbye letter to the show he SPECIFICALLY thanked Reddit and it was so disgusting.
Star Trek from TNG on was also a boy’s club, even though the TOS fans were mostly women. Women, in fact, who literally created modern fandom with their zines. But after TNG it was all, “Women don’t understand Star Trek, only smart men hur dur.”
I think it would be harder for us to find examples of when this DIDNT happen than when it did. It happens all the time.

I’ve had to fucking explain this to parents. Why can’t the baby stop crying? Because that’s the only way the baby knows how to communicate – they’re trying to tell you something. Why is this child acting like the world is ending because they lost their favorite toy? Because they’ve never experienced loss before – this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to them in their lives
Children have all the emotional capacity of adults and none of the experience in learning how to cope with it. A knee scraped for the first time is the worst pain a child has ever felt. Not getting to go to the park is the greatest injustice ever.
They’re responding proportionally to the event from their life perspective. Children actually don’t over react, like ever. They just feel everything so much and have so little reference to weigh it against.
